The surgery is performed at Palma Planas Clinic under anesthesia. About a week before the surgery, we will arrange an educational consultation with the anesthesiologist with you. You must bring a current blood test. If you still have questions about the surgery, we can finalize them. On the day of the operation you will come to the surgery.
During the surgery, they will have drains placed to drain blood and wound water.
You will be fitted with a support bra after the operation. This should be worn for six weeks. You will stay in the hospital for a day or two and then you can go home.
Unfortunately, it does not work without scars. An incision around the nipple, with reduction if necessary, is always required. In the scar-saving technique (Lejour), the incision is made as far as the underbust crease. If there is too much excess skin, the incision must be continued in the underbust fold as an L or T incision.
The skin suture is performed intracutaneously. For this purpose, sutures are used that dissolve themselves or that have to be pulled.
The scars are usually delicate and fine, but scarring varies from individual to individual.
They can have a not inconsiderable influence on a complication-free healing process. This begins before the operation with the renunciation of nicotine, which should also be continued after the operation in order to avoid wound healing disorders.
After breast surgery, you should avoid physical exertion for two weeks.
Sports activities and heavy lifting (5 kg) are taboo for the duration of six weeks. Light activities can be started after two weeks. You must wear the support bra for six weeks.
Medications that have a blood-thinning effect must be discontinued before surgery.
Common risks associated with surgical procedures include inflammation, bleeding, and thrombosis. By working hygienically and carefully, we can minimize these risks. But you also have to contribute something to a complication-free healing process. This already begins before the operation with the renunciation of nicotine. Depending on the amount of mammary gland tissue removed and the length of the nipple pedicle, circulatory disturbances with loss or partial loss of the nipple may occur, requiring reconstruction later.
It is important to wear the support bra for the duration of six weeks.
Sometimes the tissue is hardened and there are lymphatic drainage problems and the shape of the breast may change due to scar traction, so that corrections are required later.
